Day 4, 13.03.2025 Athens
On March 13, 2025, the final day of the 'Environmental Dimensions of Food Production and Processing' Activity, participants visited the Agricultural University of Athens as part of the 'Schools Go to University' initiative. Assistant Professor Michael Gkoliomitis from the Department of Animal Science guided them through the university’s livestock farm, showcasing smart farming techniques in egg production, cattle farming, and sheep breeding that utilize orange pulp and mushroom culture residues as part of a circular economy approach. Additionally, Professor George Papadomichelakis provided an in-depth tour of the university’s feed mill and its production line.
The program concluded with cultural activities, including visits to the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum, offering participants a glimpse into Greece’s rich historical heritage.
The Erasmus+ Activity in Acharnes was successfully completed, leaving participants with valuable knowledge, unforgettable experiences and a deeper appreciation for sustainable food production and processing practices.
